DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

The Department of Philosophy launched its journey in the year 1994 as a General subject and marched ahead for pretty long time as General subject only. After the introduction of Bengali and English subject in College, there was a huge demand amongst the students for opting Philosophy as their Elective Subject. And finally, it obtained approval for introducing Philosophy as a Pass subject in TDC in the year 1999. Since then, the Department has produced innumerable number of students of B.A General (pass) in last few years. It runs its academic course in B.A General (Pass) in semester mode and follows grading system introduced by Assam University, Silchar in the CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) from the academic year 2017-2018. Many students of the Department have successfully placed themselves in various Sectors, especially as Subject Teachers in various H.S. Schools and Junior Degree Colleges and now they are the bonafide members of Departmental Alumni.

Besides teaching & learning, the Department also organizes Seminar, debate, prepares students for Quiz competition and Group discussion etc., So that they can keep pace with time. The faculty members are always ready to render all possible assistance and guidance to the students within and outside the campus as and when required. Consequently students get through the final examination with flying colors every year and go for further higher studies.

The Faculty members of the Department also actively take part in Research related activities through publication of books, reports, articles etc. in Philosophy in Indian and International journals and Anthologies.
